Located in Hampton Roads an artistic hub of the east coast,
one of the most unique things about beautiful Virginia Beach
is the value it places on the arts. There are numerous experiences
to be had in Virginia Beach that will make a visit or relocation
to this area worth the decision. A few of the performances that
this area has to offer are listed below however; this is just
a small sample.
Bay
Youth Orchestras - Many Students from all over the Tidewater
Area attend weekly rehearsals for the Bay Youth Orchestras.
They work under the direction of music educators in this culturally
affluent area. The Bay Youth Orchestras have been available
to area students for the last 33 years and have become one
of the largest youth orchestra programs in the country.
The
Little Theatre of Virginia Beach - This non-profit organization
offers a season of five shows and a summer musical. It is
the oldest continually operating theatre in the community
and the show should not be missed. It is easy to find being
located at 24th Street and Barberton Drive. It is only a few
blocks away from the beach. http://www.homestead.com
Virginia
Ballet Theatre - Gene Hammett founded what was then known
as the Norfolk Civic Ballet over 40 years ago. Since then
Gene white, who was a former student of the ballet returned
to become the Artistic Director and the Virginia Ballet has
continued to flourish. Today it is the only professional dance
company in the Hampton Roads area.
Virginia Beach not only offers these and many other experiences
for locals and visitors alike it also appreciates the importance
of a visually artistic environment in the structure of its
city. While in Virginia Beach you will find many great works
of art sprinkled liberally throughout.
